About Karen McKinney
I will never forget the birthday that I received my Brownie Hawkeye camera. I was eleven. I was so excited. It was the type that you hung it around your neck and looked into the view-finder about at your waist. It took 110 film. For the first couple of days my parents had me practice with no film, just so I could get the mechanics down. Then came the day they taught me how to load my own film!!! Good old Black and White 110. I was going to become famous! I wore that poor camera out. As I aged, I upgraded to a Canon AE-1 with a 2X adapter and many different lenses. On/off, up/down. Set your aperture, what’s the f stop? Oh my goodness, so much to do and to remember. You would get back your prints and part of them weren’t any good. The fun was gone. Then came the digital age, fun again. I got myself a beginning little Olympus and went crazy. I could download and print it all myself. I kept up grading and then low and behold phones started to have cameras. I was in hog heaven. I got the “shutter bug” fever honestly from my mom. We have boxes of photos that she had taken over the years. My “real” life was not photography but education. I taught for 31 years with a dual degree in elementary and special education. Yes, I took shots of my classes and the fun we had. A few years before retirement, I began working at a University and really enjoyed education the future teachers. I am still teaching there. I have started my own company God’s Inspiration LLC and I am also a published author. I am also a speaker and would gladly come to speak to your group if you are not too far away. My work is located on Amazon in kindle or paperback formats. I have a small blog Prayer and Praise page on Facebook. You can go there to leave a prayer or praise and know that many people are praying over your concerns. Currently I am building my website and I will post it here when I am finished. I am also working on my second book. Enjoy my work of God’s creation which stills astounds me. Also, please follow me and share my connections.
